The Creative Entrepreneur – A Story of Life, Decisions, and Learning

This is a continuation of my story, my journey as a Creative Entrepreneur. It’s about life, the decisions and things learned along the way.

You’ll find Part 6 of this continuing story here

My Story didn’t just end at the end of the summer of 2015

with me riding into the sunset dedicated and committed to my Etsy shop.
A STory of Life, Decisions and Learning

Maybe it was summer burnout or the overwhelm.

I felt like I needed something to give me energy, and that’s where it all began – all over again.

That’s how my husband and I embarked once again into the use of Protein Powders in our Morning Smoothies.

We Chose Shakeology…

That was in September of 2015

By the time November rolled around, I was once again a Team Beachbody Coach and very excited about the possibilities

I dove in, full steam ahead, thinking: this time around it’s going to work.

By December I had convinced my husband to also be a coach.
He was a Coach in name only – I would be running the biz for him.
That was perfectly fine with me.

I had my team planned out, I knew who I wanted and where I wanted them.

With my focus on Beachbody –

  • I once again, left Del~Lillian’s in limbo, with a plan to close up
  • I was not going to continue with the Island Batik Brand Ambassador gig

But one day it hit me…OMG...I’ll be the Fit Quilter

I could bring my love of fitness and my love of quilting together.
It was a match made in heaven ! How could I lose?

I wasn’t sure what to do with Del~Lillian’s because having an online shop takes a world of time…

But a plan was starting to form.
and the domain for the fit quilter was purchased…

In February it all came to a screeching halt.

Synthetic Vitamins in my Shakeology??? No way!

Yes it is true.
Shakeology with all its wonderful ingredients,
all of those lovely super-foods,
also has Synthetic vitamins in it.

That was not acceptable to me.
It begs the question: if it’s full of super foods, why on earth does it need synthetic vitamins?

I knew it wasn’t organic and honestly, I shouldn’t have been okay with that either.

This new development opened my eyes and has changed my thinking on protein powder and even the way I make my Morning Smoothies…But that is a post for another day.

It took me awhile to come to terms with all these new developments.
And the fact that all my plans were trashed.

What Next?

I quilted.
I played my piano
I Baked
I worked out every day
I blogged.
I learned…

I found my way through, with my creativity and determination

I had thought about shutting the shop down in July – even had a date picked…but
July came, I just couldn’t bring myself to shutting down again.

So I thought maybe in October…
But a funny thing happened in September, I realized a shop can’t be successful with a handful of things in it and the shop owner not committed to it.

A shop needs to be chock full of goodies for people to browse through.

It became my goal to fill it and recommit to it

At the time of this writing there are 48 items for sale in my shop.

A record for me.

They range in price from $2.99 for patterns to $300 for quilted wall hanging.

I have so many ideas for my shop sometimes I don’t know where to turn!
And there are still those days I wonder if it’s all worth it.

That’s when I am grateful to Darren Hardy.
and his morning mentoring program Darren Daily.

His advice is always timely

for example:
It isn’t hard work…it’s careful planning of your day that will help you achieve your goals.

I’ve learned that my mornings usually run smoothly. They are carefully planned
from my morning workout, piano practice, and the 1 – 2 hours I can squeeze in for work.

It’s my afternoons that I need to craft better.

It’s part of the journey, this story, and it will continue.

And what about the Fit Quilter? Well that’s still me.

I love fitness and I’ve been brainstorming ideas for the fit quilter.
I know it will be a part of what I’m doing in the new year.

What about you? Where is your journey taking you?
