I want to offer you a few ideas to create an artistic canvas with your fabric leftovers
Strips of Fabric in assorted colors and styles
- Using Black and White
- Squares of Neutral Tones
- Big Blocks
- Lots of different sized blocks
- Convergence Quilts!
The background for this quilt with strips of fabrics. These were random colors and widths.
After the strips were sewn together I cut blocks from them and created a large enough piece for my applique design.
Black and White Strips of Fabric are a perfect background for colorful large print fabrics. The appliques are from a large-scale rose print fabric and machine appliqued in place.
Medium sized squares of Neutral tones make up the background for the Modern Floral Quilt
Large squares of a several tone on tone fabrics were used to create the background for the machine appliqued versions on the modern floral quilt.
Convergence quilts are fun to make, an adventure, and can make a great backdrop for you next appliqued project.
These are just a few ideas for an appliqued canvas background.
Try something new and creative for your next appliqueing project.
I know you’ll love the results!
